Psychedelic Integration

Integration of psychedelic experiences is key. In this work we are moving towards wholeness. The medicine journey is a catalyst, and integrating material brought up through journeys is a necessary, and ongoing part of this process.

Often processing can unfold over time. Allowing whatever feelings arise, being with your experience can be helpful. Compassion for yourself at these times is paramount, and I sincerely hope you are able to provide yourself with much care and compassion. Developing your ability to love yourself and give yourself the grace to be a human is a great way forward.

Integration can take many different forms. Whether it is through journaling, processing verbally with your therapist, drawing, dancing, or writing a song or poem, externally symbolizing something about your experience will help anchor and integrate it.

Time spent in reflection, perhaps listening to the soundtrack from the original experience, can be fruitful. Contemplation of material brought up during the Ketamine session can lead to new insights and deepen understanding.

Essentially, the Ketamine experience is not complete until the process of integrating the experience is undertaken. My own view is that it is highly desirable to use this opportunity to deepen our connection with Self and so set aside special time, making space for this to occur outside of therapy time and the actual Ketamine journey.

There are many resources available, and we can discuss some in our work together. For instance MAPS.org have created a useful integration tool.
